Our Financial Journey

From humble beginnings to becoming a trusted partner in financial education across South Africa. Here's how we've grown alongside our community since 2019.

2019

The Foundation Years

What started as weekend workshops in a small Cape Town venue has become something much bigger. Back then, Hendrik Muller was teaching basic market analysis to groups of twelve people. The initial focus wasn't on creating another financial services company – it was about filling a genuine gap in practical financial education. Most people we met had access to investment platforms but lacked the fundamental knowledge to use them effectively. Those early sessions covered everything from reading financial statements to understanding market cycles, always with real examples from the South African market.

2022

Expanding Our Reach

By 2022, word had spread beyond Cape Town. We found ourselves hosting sessions in Johannesburg, Durban, and even smaller towns where financial education resources were particularly scarce. The turning point came when we realized that many South African investors were making decisions based on overseas market advice that didn't account for local economic conditions. This led us to develop our signature approach: contextual financial education that specifically addresses South African market dynamics. We also moved into our current offices at Parklands Centre, which gave us the space to run multiple programs simultaneously.

2024

Digital Transformation

The past year has been about reaching people who couldn't attend in-person sessions. We've developed comprehensive online modules that maintain the interactive element of our original workshops. The feedback has been encouraging – participants appreciate being able to revisit complex concepts at their own pace. We also launched our research publication series, which provides quarterly analysis of South African market trends. Over 2,800 people have now participated in our programs, from university students getting their first introduction to investing to retirees looking to understand their pension options better.

Looking Toward 2026

Financial literacy shouldn't be a privilege available only to those who can afford expensive advisory services. Over the next two years, we're working on making our educational resources available to a broader audience. This includes partnerships with community centers and libraries across South Africa, as well as developing materials in multiple local languages.

We're also exploring ways to help people connect with each other – financial decision-making can feel isolating, and there's real value in peer learning. Think study groups, but for adults navigating investment decisions or retirement planning.
